Halloween

So, the thread in Ms. Frost's journal and her answer to Amara made me think that it might be better for us to ask questions and talk about Halloween costume ideas where we won't get in the way. The theme seems to be scary historical figures - I was thinking of a Black Panther, from that black rights group in the 60s and 70s. Too much?

Edit: Also, seriously, what the fuck is up with the adults in this place? Do they just not like teenagers or something? And if they don't, why the fuck are they living in a boarding school?

Why would adults like teenagers? I mean, parents, maybe, or teachers, but these people aren't parents or teachers. Just stay away from them. This place isn't really a boarding school. It's like an apartment building. They're just residents, same as us.

I don't expect them to buddy up, 'cause, ew, but being flat out rude to a foreign kid who wasn't brought up in the States when she asks a simple question? I guess my dad was old-fashioned in teaching me that you try and be helpful to people when they ask for it.

As for the party, I'm thinking maybe I'll just find something better to do. Since we're obviously not wanted there. So much for getting to know the people we live with and who expect us to listen to them when they try to train us and tell us what to do.

Why don't you host your own party?

I think you're still not getting that most of the adults here don't give a toss about us or want to get to know us. They just want to do their own thing. We live together because it's safe but that's it. We're not a family or a community or any rubbish like that.

And I think it's pretty clear that the few who do want to train us and tell us what to do don't want to train us for any actual purpose. We're supposed to be learning how to be a team but we try to get a team together to go look for Maya and we get told we can't go out after dark? This whole training thing is bullshit.

I say we even go out after the adults are too busy being drunk to give a shit about what we do.

Some aren't too bad. CeCe seems pretty cool. There's definitely some assholes though. You'd think they never had to deal with anyone younger then 18.

Not sure what I'll go as. I'm tempted to go as Walt Disney though. There's a historical villain if there was one.

Trauma, it would seem, for some. But too, I think, this is not a boarding school, oui? It is more a haven. The school, it is elsewhere. Anyway, it is an overdramatic reaction from everyone to everything. What is the point to having a separate party that will have to be done somewhere that will probably make the responsible adults upset more? At the least, make it in a recreation room.

For myself, I do not see the fun in any of this, the dressing up.

Pardon, I did not mean that you should all attend the party that they are arranging, only that if you arrange one for yourselves, it should not be in the woods. It seems to me very poor planning to make something like this in direct opposition to the adults that will then upset the adults also, yes? This is why I mentioned a recreation room.
